Calling all Fiction Reading Raccoons!
Help me assemble my Raccoon Review Crew for the Acid Christmas book launch
Hello, Earthlings. Today, I bring you good news. The time is nigh! My new novel, Acid Christmas, is set to launch! This November 15th, it will drop into the world like a tab of LSD on your tongue! All my paid newsletter subscribers (love y’all) will receive a signed copy of the novel (unless you prefer ebook or audio) along with whatever goodies I come up with to throw in.
But in the meantime, I’d like to call forth anyone who wants to join my Reading Raccoon Review Crew!
This special crew will receive advanced copies of the Acid Christmas ebook now to read and review. You can also tell me what you liked or didn’t like about the book. Then, on the day of the book launch, I’ll remind you to leave your official review on Amazon and/or Goodreads. I’ll also encourage you to share the book with friends or on your social media if that’s your thing. My goal with the Raccoon Review Crew is to give you a great book and a fun time, and your goal is to help me spread the word about the book, which I’ll be very grateful for.
Forming a review crew like this is standard author operating procedure for indie writers like me, though most authors call this their “Launch team” or “Arc Readers,” but since I love raccoons and since the story takes place in Toronto—city of raccoon cuties, we’re going with raccoons! Yes, raccoons are the official mascot of Toronto and there are probably more raccoons than people in the city! There are also a few raccoons mentioned in Acid Christmas.
About the Book
Acid Christmas is more complex and darker than my past books. The story follows five different characters trapped in the Toronto airport by a snowstorm over the holidays, only the snowstorm doesn’t stop. Not only that, but there is something strange about the snow… something just ain’t right… Is it climate change? A weather attack? Alien bird demons? Well, you’ll just have to read to find out.
Genre?
The book is speculative/dystopian fiction with sci-fi elements, climate-horror, and psychedelic vibes. Think Annihilation meets Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, but in the airport at Christmas. Yikes. Talk about a bad trip!
A few folks already read the book and they compared it to:
Station Eleven, by Emily St. John Mandel
Independence Day meets Avatar
Die Hard meets Childhood’s End
Skinny Legs and All, by Tom Robbins
So, if you liked any of those, and you like reading fiction novels, come along and join my Reading Raccoon Review Crew! You’d also need to hopefully be able to finish the novel in a month, or at least by the holidays.
How To Join
To join the crew, fill out this form, and I’ll send you an ebook link which you can use to add the book to the eReader of your choice: Kindle, Applebooks, Kobo, etc, or a pdf version.
My only stipulation for the advanced Raccoon Reading Review Crew is that you enjoy dystopian fiction and that you’re able to review things on Amazon. This means you need to have purchased something on Amazon in the last 12 months worth at least $50. Otherwise, you can be in any country.
And if you don’t use Amazon at all, but want to review the book on Goodreads, that works too.
Once you finish the book, before and on the day of the book release, I’ll prompt you to leave your review.
It’s that simple!
So, come along my Raccoon Readers, and let’s get in formation!
Also, if you share books/book reviews on your social media, let me know and I can send additional photos or graphics to you.
Whew. I am SO excited! I hope you sign up.
I also hope to do something special to celebrate the Reading Raccoon Review Crew (RRRC) when the time comes and the book launches. I want to throw candy like Chuck Palahniuk and wear raccoon Santa costumes. Lol.
And lastly, thank you so much to everyone who sent me kind emails and texts about my last newsletter on war emotions. I thank you all.
