The Writers’ Support Group Resumes!
Summer break is officially over! The Writers’ Support Group that I co-host every Thursday at 8 pm EST on Zoom with bestselling women’s fiction author Lainey Cameron resumes this week! I’ve missed y’all!
For those of you new to my Lagoon, you can read about the group here.
Summer Podcast Panel
And speaking of the controversial topic of “women’s fiction,” ICYMI, I joined Lainey Cameron on her podcast, The Best of Women’s Fiction, along with several other members of the Writers’ Support Group earlier this summer for a panel debate on whether the genre of Women’s Fiction should continue to exist.
The X Factor Workshop for Writers: Mastering Twitter/X for Readership Growth
On September 7th The Writers’ Support Group will host author,
for a workshop on how writers can use X (the app formerly known as Twitter) to share work and build community.Matt Cardin is the author of five books and the editor of four more. He has a Ph.D. in leadership studies and an M.A. in religious studies. His books have been nominated for the World Fantasy Award, long-listed for the Bram Stoker Award, and praised by Publishers Weekly, Kirkus Reviews, Library Journal, Asimov’s Science Fiction, and others. He also writes The Living Dark, a weekly newsletter about tapping into your inner voice, genius, vision, and demons.
While we aren’t all happy with the change of Twitter to X, or Musk’s pursuit of The Everything App. The fact remains that many established writers, creatives, publishers, and literary agents still use X as their primary social platform. So we think it’s worth understanding how the platform is changing and how it benefits writers.
I for one am very excited to learn from Matt, who has leveraged the platform to grow his Substack readership and gain additional income. You can check him out here on X.
Matt has a lot of knowledge and if you are a creative person on the internet, you won’t want to miss this workshop.
Topics will include:
Basic do's and don'ts for tweeting/posting
How to work with the algorithm, not against it
Effective tweet templates or patterns
The importance of optimizing your profile
How to get the attention of influential accounts
How to grow your follower count
How to maximize follower engagement
The pros and cons of verification (Twitter (X?) Blue
The most important rule for using Twitter well
Yes, please, sign me up!
