Poetry Portal, Dome Retreat, and Mexico Yoga Bliss
Plus the Writers' Support Group Resumes in September
Several announcements today, and two exciting retreats on the horizon!
Poetry Portal this Saturday with the Cultural Futurist
First, I’ll be reading my poetry this Saturday, August 24th from 4 pm to 6 pm EST at The Cultural Futurist’s Live Poetry Portal Salon, details here. You can join us on Zoom. I’ll be reading a mix of poetry written recently and poetry I wrote during the pandemic. It will be very performative and over the top.
The event is hosted and moderated by futurist, author, and musician
, who also recently launched a fun neurodivergent podcast called Meltdown Hour. Please come and hang out!
Calling All Creative Entrepreneurs
Second, I’d like to tell you about a giveaway happening for a 4-day retreat that a close friend of mine is hosting on entrepreneurship for creatives, called Alchemy Retreat.
You can enter the giveaway here!
I’m trying to work out childcare so I can also go, as it looks amazing, and I love domes!
The host, Rochanda “Ro” Ferrelli, is a friendship expert, Kundalini yoga teacher, author, and artist who works with crystals and resin.
The retreat will take place this September 19-22, in Hillsboro, Georgia, at The Florrest, a 153-acre sustainable Dome village nestled in a forest. It’s a sober retreat space.
Like me, Rochanda left her bureaucratic job to pursue creative endeavors full-time, and she wants to help you do the same. If you’re looking to expand your mindset and fully embrace your creative entrepreneurial instincts, I highly recommend her retreats.
I’m not financially affiliated with this retreat or any of the events in today’s newsletter, but I’ve done Ro’s workshops and mini-retreats in the past, and I found them very enriching, illuminating, and FUN!
She blends various modalities, like meditation, Kundalini, creative workshops, hiking, cold plunges, breathwork, and writing activities to help you tap into your inner wisdom and connect deeper with yourself and your desires.
I’m a big fan of her Magnetic Geode art too!
Hola Mexico! Hola Yogis!
Third, and also in the realm of healing retreats, another close friend, and one of my favorite Vinyasa and Yin Yoga teachers, Amy Laskin, is hosting a yoga retreat called Mind, Body, Sol, Mexico, at Xinalani, a stunning beachside retreat resort on an island near Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, February 1st-8th 2025.
This is yoga for every BODY. Plus sizes welcome. All levels welcome. For more details, email Amy. This is an unlisted experience, through their networks only, but Amy has cleared me to invite my readers, knowing that you all are quality folk!
Amy is also a Reiki Master. The retreat is co-hosted with Gabrielle Marangi, an E-200 RYT, 500 RYT, YACEP-certified Yogi (for those of you in the yoga-know).
I’ve already paid my deposit and will definitely be attending! Which is very exciting for me because despite having traveled extensively in Africa, Europe, Japan, and the Middle East, I’ve actually never been to Mexico! It will be my first time. It’s going to be magical! Come join me!
The Writers’ Support Group Resumes Soon!
Fourth, and finally, my Writers’ Support Group sessions, which I cohost with bestselling author Lainey Cameron, resume from our summer break on Thursday, September 19th. This group is free and open to all serious writers across genres. We meet weekly on Zoom at 8 pm EST. To register for the group, and receive the zoom link, please complete this form.
The group is not a critique group, but rather a support group and a mastermind. We cheer each other on, share knowledge, help answer writing and publishing questions, and hold each other accountable. We also do periodic workshops and host guest speakers and publishing industry experts. I’ve met amazing writers and made close friends through this group.
That’s all for today.
Thanks for reading!
Now You
Do any of these events or retreats appeal to you? Which ones?
Do you have any questions for me?
Anything you’d like me to write about in the near future?

Both retreats are just the kind I'd love, but man, it's time, money and where to prioritize those resources that I have to juggle. I'll at least enter the giveaway. Where would I get more info on the Mexico retreat, like cost? I'm planning a family trip in February anyway, but I'd be interested for a future retreat. I'd love to meet you in person one day, Charlotte. Our IG messages back and forth have been uplifting (I'm crystal_skultuna).
So excited that Writers Support group is returning. I have missed it!
Back in my youth, I wanted to live in a dome, but yurts ended up being my destination. A done retreat sounds perfectly lovely but the timing not so much. Maybe you will run a dome writing retreat going forward?
