Hi, this is gonna be another raw one, but before I begin this cautionary tale of burnout and the Miami flu, let me say that if you begin my new book Acid Christmas today, you’ll be reading along in real-time with the calendar timeline of the novel. The story starts on Black Friday, AKA the day after American Thanksgiving, AKA today. The year is unclear, but the day is exact. Today.

To fit the novel’s events within the timeframe of Black Friday and Christmas, during the editing process, I even made a Notion calendar to keep track of things, to ensure I wouldn’t reference too many nights or mornings, lunches, etc., to keep it realistic in the narrow holiday period. I can’t show you much of the calendar, because it has plot spoilers, but this was its header image:

Making calendars is something I probably find a little too fun, and that will be reflected as you move through the rest of this post, but like they say, when you make plans, God laughs.
