I’ve never used Fiverr, but my best friend did for a logo with much success. My husband is a videographer and musician/songwriter, and in the future he wants to use a talented artist for some animation and AI conceptual work.
I prefer #3 because at the beginning focus is on the book and I can see your name! It's simple and easy to follow and invites me to read your book.
#2 I also like, but not as well as #3. #2 I kept waiting for the video to play! 😂
You are on the cutting edge Charlotte, yours is the first book trailer we have ever seen! Fun fact, FVRR was a YOLO FOMO stock (affectionately called a stonk way back then) during the Pandemic years.
I like book trailers. But it’s so easy to send the wrong message with audio/visual material that I sometimes get confused about why a trailer was made the way it was.
I can tell you that young people like them a lot! My students really enjoy seeing quick trailers before going to the library. A good trailer moves books. Bad trailers don’t.
I like the first video you showed because it gave me a sense of the story as you describe it. I’ve never used Fiverr, but I’d like to in the future. Have a good one!
I actually liked the one from the Indian girl the best. It needed 5 to 10 seconds more but what was there looked and sounded like a film trailer. With a couple more lines from your pitch and some background images it would’ve been great. Did you think about making a script for the video frame by frame? Maybe this would’ve cut the back and forth.
Thank you! I actually basically did your script suggestion with trailer #1 at the pro’s request, but then he didn’t really follow it... I also wanted to kind of see what creative ideas they came up with on their own, since this was an experiment of sorts.
I thought #1 was great and nailed it except, the font was a bit too Halloweeny. Otherwise, gave me chills and definitely made me interested enough to look further into what this book might be about.
Thank you! I wish they’d had some people or the inside of the airport in the trailer, and I’d asked for more Toronto footage, but the guy was resistant to my requests. I agree that it’s not a total fail.
I make my own trailers for the exact reasons you say towards the end.
Of the three from Fiver I think the first was the most punchy and got my interest but the font just didn't work and was somewhat unreadable on some of the backgrounds.
Your book sounds great and only you know it best at this stage. I'd love to see a version you made yourself if you have time.
Thank you! Haha I haven’t made one yet, but if I do, I’ll definitely share it! And funny how people’s taste differ as someone else texted me saying they loved the font on that one. 😂
Haha I’m glad someone got that! Good that your experience has all been positive! I’ve had mostly positive, but def some negative including one I didn’t mention that I had to get Fiverr to fully refund.
Great post! So informative and useful plus a good read! I know this poll is closed, but the fourth one is my favorite. 🤩
Ahh thank you so much Marta!!

Ahh thank you! And awesome that your hubby does that!
Bless your heart! 🤗To be honest we occasionally farm out a lot of work because it’s so time consuming.

Haha I didn’t know this! I can see why though. Stonks is still a term I love and use! And glad to be your first trailer ever!
This was interesting to read. Thanks!

Ah interesting. It does work on some levels, but for readability (for me) not so much.
Have a great week!
You too! Would love to see your trailers too. Drop one here if you want.
Here you go! https://youtu.be/wp4OJONtg2c?si=v84tY5rjxEYbE1GT 🥰
Thank you!! Loved it! That looks like a book I’d read. Is it literary sci-fi? That’s the vibe the trailer/cover is giving me.
Yeah, it definitely straddles that and eco horror/climate fiction.
The literal pros and cons 😄 That's kina genius. Yes, I use Fiverr a lot. My experience has been entirely positive so far.
Curious also what you use it for?
