I so loved the Key West Literary Festival on Memoir that I attended in 2000, and I loved your review of this one. I recognized the same kinds of feelings I experienced then. Also, Hummingbird Salamander was a great book I read by Jeff VanderMeer.
I agree that Key West was an inspiring place to be a writer.
I don't go to in-person events often, but that's where I heard an author speak whom I didn't even know would become my all-time favorite author. His talk was excellent, and his books turned out to be even better, so I'm forever grateful I spent all the money to get there!
This looks soooo amazing!! I kinda wanna go next year!!
It was a fun one! But I think 20books Vegas will be better. Though Key West is great.
im excited!! have you made plans yet?
Nope, but I am mentally taking note of which hotels look cool while I’m here. 😎

Ahh love that you got to go to the memoir one! It’s like we both got the perfect seminar topic!
That is an incredibly eclectic panel! Like I'm having a hard time even imagining those folks in the same room 😄
Haha it sure was. Though everyone seemed to be having a great time together.
Would love to see you start a live show!
I’m only intimidated by the promotion I perceive to be required.

Who was that?! Which author and which year? So awesome!
This was Neal Shusterman at the National SCBWI Conference in LA. Can't remember the year - maybe 2016?
And I’ve never heard of him! Thanks! I’ll look him up.
He writes MG/YA grounded fantasy. Check out the Everlost series and the Unbound series, both terrific. His YA Scythe series is also a huge hit.
Ahh that’s prob why I haven’t heard of him, I’m just not a YA reader. I like sex, drugs, and violence. 😜
Yep, we all have our favorites! I adore his creativity - totally original plots. And funny characters.
