I'm bookmarking this post to refer back to the medallions- I think it's a clever way to reveal more about a book than just stars, though for an overall rating stars are the way to go. I saw you already rated a movie using these medallions and it immediately gave me a better idea of what the movie was like instantly. The medallion artwork is excellent as well, trippy yet gets to the point.
So, reading it now in 2024, or I guess I read it at the end of 2023, there was some overtly racist/outdated language in the book, some racial stereotypes, just some things that didn’t age well. Also there is a sex scene with a minor and an adult that’s sort of normalized/glamorized.
Then yes, some uneven parts too. Really interesting sections, but sooo many lengthy vehicle chase scenes that I started skimming those scenes.
But overall I still liked it and think about its big ideas often.
yeah that may be what put me off as well. Also those early cyberpunk novels have been copied so many times now that what seemed original when they were written has become a cliché.
This is fucking brilliant and fun and just all around refreshing. This framework also helps me understand how my book can hit different types of readers in unique ways. Acid Christmas is a Solid Dose for me! I'd be happy as hell if readers saw my book as a Solid Dose, too!

Thank you! Yes, it works for movies and books! Glad you like it. Feel free to use them!
This needs to spread, it's great!
Thank you! I’d love for it to catch on! If I was more of a video myself type I’d def be using these for tik toks and YouTube’s.
Also would be interested to know what you found problematic about Snow Crash? Agree it contains interesting concepts but I could never finish it.

Exactly. And tbh cyber punk or steam punk is less my thing because there is too much gear and constant talk of mechanics and machinery.

Ahh I love that! Haha feel free to leave that as an Amazon review too! 😂😂😉
Solid dose is a great place to be!
Done! I also added that line to my existing goodreads review of Acid Christmas🤘🏽
Hilarious. Thanks, Charlotte!
Haha glad you liked it!
Really fun and helpful too! Stars do…nothing, this is great!
They really don’t! And people use them in wildly different ways. One person’s 4 star is another’s 3 and a 1 could be a 3 etc.
I love this idea and the creative implementation! Such a fun array of options.
Thank you!
